Platform is an iSeries (AS/400)

The primary project is to design the file structure and process to load a 1Sync database for publication by a third party service to retailers. The design includes what data could be pulled from the current database and what data would have to be maintained separately. The project also includes writing the programs to refresh the intermediate database, maintenance of the intermediate database, and pushing the intermediate database to the third party provider. My secondary responsibility is to support the in house IT staff with the project backlog.

iSeries Platform

Visual Basic 6 application interfacing with JD Edwards World 8.1 on the iSeries. The VB6 application is a requisition entry and approval routing system accessing and updating JD Edwards. The VB6 application did not work correctly and was not being used, the 1st phase of the project was to analyze the VB6 application to determine if it could be salvaged and identify key areas to be addressed. The 2nd phase of the project was to modify and enhance the application to make it functional, working with the users on data issues and training. This included documentation of the application, the approval routing, and data flow.

The contract was extended and changed to providing support to the in house IS Department for EDI, additional VB6 projects generating reports from the iSeries database and emailing the reports out, and modifications and enhancements to JD Edwards and the iSeries applications.

EDI ASN’s on the iSeries. Troubleshooting and modifications to the program that builds the UCC-128 labels to match the ASN’s sent out to the customer. Write programs to audit the ASN’s prior to translation. Redesign and rewrite the ASN build process due to increased complexity caused by shipping from multiple locations and changing customer requirements. Included in the redisgn more control was given to the users requiring less direct involvement by IT personel.

The iSeries application was GEAC System 21 and the work performed included customization of the application software and conversion of legacy programs. Two additional projects were included in this contract. One involved automating the payroll post to GL process currently being done manually. The second project was the building of interface files using data from the System 21 application to feed a client/server based Capacity Planning application.

Worked as technical consultant on a project team to convert from an existing payroll package based on the inhouse AS/400 to PeopleSoft payroll located at corporate headquarters. Developed flat files and spreadsheets from the AS/400 payroll database that were used to update the PeopleSoft database. Would then audit the results against the AS/400 for accuracy. Worked with inhouse staff to customize a Microsoft Access database used for Time and Attendance which was uploaded to PeopleSoft. Wrote programs to capture employee expenses from the invoice files to be used for payroll deductions. Developed procedures and wrote programs to use the files returned from PeopleSoft to update the general ledger; including programs to audit hours paid vs. hours entered, to drill down from a GL Account to the payroll employee detail, to generate accrual and reversal batches for period end posting. Time and Attendance hours were accessed using Client Access ODBC and a linked table in the Microsoft Access database. Time and Attendance hours were used for labor costing, actual labor reporting, safety reporting, etc. Developed reports for HR using the Microsoft Access HR Data Extract from corporate and linked tables to files on the AS/400.

Responsible for setup and testing of the steps before the creation of the Advanced Ship Notice. Used JD Edwards Event Rule debugger to determine setup and data problems.
